MMN photo exhibitions and multimedia entitled “Beyond ‘Tolerance’: Living Together with Migrants

Mekong Migration Network (MMN) and SEA Junction invite you to attend a photo exhibition on GMS migrants on 8-16 October at SEA Junction, Room 408 (4th fl), Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). The exhibition is part of our ongoing project entitled Beyond “Tolerance”: Living Together with Migrants, supported by the Toyota Foundation.

The opening event will take place on 8 October from 3-6pm in Room 501 (5th fl) of BACC. It includes a cultural performance by migrant community members as well as a public discussion on migration. A multimedia presentation highlighting the impact of the social exclusion of migrants, produced by MMN, will also be launched at the event.

A second event will take place on 15 October from 5:30-7:30pm at SEA Junction, Room 408 (4th fl), BACC. Documentary photographer, Mr. John Hulme, who has been collaborating with MMN on this project, will discuss the exhibited photos, followed by a Q&A period.

A broad range of photos capturing the aspirations and struggles of migrants in destination and home countries, including Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Japan, will be showcased at the exhibition. We hope that the event will help generate broader discussion on what needs to change so that we can go beyond “tolerance” and embrace the friendship and contributions migrants bring to society.
