This paper by the Mekong Migration Network (MMN) examines the labour rights challenges faced by migrant workers in Thailand, particularly those from Myanmar, and the barriers they encounter when seeking effective remedies. Migrant workers make up an important part of Thailand’s workforce, yet many continue to experience insecure employment, low wages and poor working conditions. Through a series of anonymised case studies drawn from MMN member organisations, the paper highlights issues including unfair dismissal, short-term contracts, withheld wages and social security contributions, and difficult access to justice. It explores how gaps in access to remedy leave migrant workers vulnerable to labour rights abuses and highlights the need for stronger accountability, protection and effective grievance mechanisms across Thailand’s supply chains.
