Labour Attaché Office resolves dispute for Myanmar migrant workers

A labour issue settled in response to a request for help from Myanmar migrant workers, said the Labour Attache Office in Thailand.
The Labour Attaché Office in Thailand stated it had helped 15 Myanmar migrant workers as they haven’t got jobs despite paying a service fee to the employment agency to work at a factory.
According to workers, they have waited long and were asked to pay unnecessary charges for getting jobs at an electronic factory in Thailand’s Pathum Thani, so they contacted the labour attaché office to settle this issue.
Concerning this problem, the labour attaché office went to the Myanmar Overseas Employment Agencies Association (MOEAA)’s call centre on 14 May to mediate between the agency and workers. As a result of the mediation, workers got their money back with the job security at the factory.
Myanmar migrant workers are advised to contact the phone numbers of the Labour Attaché Office if their labour rights are violated, it said. — MT/ZS
