On 8 March 2025, MMN joined the International Women’s Day march and activities at Chiang Mai’s Three Kings Monument. Organised by local CSOs advocating for women’s rights and gender equality, the event brought together over 200 participants.
Discussions at the event addressed critical issues surrounding gender equality and labour rights. A representative from the MMN member, EMPOWER Foundation, highlighted the challenges faced by female sex workers, who must pay unofficial fees and lack legal recognition and protection. A migrant worker representative from Myanmar shed light on the ongoing hardships women are enduring under military rule, including widespread gender-based violence and the suppression of their fundamental rights.
MMN stands in solidarity with all women in their fight for justice and remains committed to supporting efforts to create fairer and more equal societies.
