The 16th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour (AFML) was held both in Jakarta and virtually from October 25 to 26, 2023, with Indonesia as the host. This significant gathering brought together representatives from the governments, employers’ associations, workers’ organizations, and civil society groups. Aligned with the overarching theme of the ASEAN Chairmanship for 2023, “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth” the 16th AFML centred around the theme of “Enhancing the Effectiveness of Legal Pathways for Labour Migration in ASEAN.” During this event, a series of recommendations were formulated to achieve the established objectives and support the implementation of the ASEAN Consensus on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers.
