Key Data & Project Sites
The geographic locations for primary data collection were selected based on:
- the number of migrants in the area;
- the existence of project partners with well established local knowledge and relationships with affected migrant communities;
- to provide regional balance (North, Central, East and South of Thailand); and
- to balance out the areas where Burmese, Cambodian or Laotian migrants are largely employed.
Based on the above criteria, research was undertaken in:
- Chiang Mai Province
- Mae Sai, Chiang Rai Province
- Mae Sod, Tak Province
- Mukkadahan Province
- Phang Nga Province
- Ranong Province
- Rayong Province
Migrants who were interviewed worked in a range of sectors, and efforts were made to include a gender balance.
